Forex Trading Seminar catch?

I'm attending a free forex trading seminar and I don't understand why the trader is conducting it for no money.

Is there a catch typically at these sorts of seminar? Will they be touting a trading course that cost thousands?

Are there any questions I can ask to gauge the speaker's credibility or knowledge level?

Usually, free Forex seminars are used to get people to either 1) sign up for their full training program or 2) purchase their trading platform.

You can ask the trainer about his background, such as whether he was a professional trader at a bank. You should also independantly verify his claims by doing your own research, such as calling up the bank he works for (or used to work for) and checking to see whether he really did work there.

3. There are some scams out there where they're trying t hook you into a paid course, which will explain why you need their deluxe course.

There are some scams out there where they're trying to sell you their magic black box so that you can get rich quick.

There are some legitimate people out there who are being nice and trying to get you interested in forex hoping that you'll appreciate the free information and like them, so that if you decide to trade, you'll do it through their firm.

4. Seminar is to let you understand about their product and get you excited about it and sign up with them. free is to attract the crowd.

5. More than likely there will be some type of motive for allowing you to view the seminar for free. You see, how they do it is they bet on that the costs it takes for them to hold such an event will be outweighed by sign-ups of a service or product. Then jsut getting your information they can sell you cross products down the road in the future. Its all a numbers game.

6. in my country similar seminars have gained popularity.
In my view, it is useful to attend the free seminar but for the paid seminar, you must think it over.
